A Smoky Mountain Sunrise
December 24th, 2008 . by adminAs an outdoor and nature photographer I try to convey what I sensed and felt at the moment I am standing before a scene. I photographed a sunrise coming up over the Great Smoky Mountains some time ago. When I arrived at the parking area along the Foothills Parkway it was pitch black dark. I could not even see a faint shadow of the mountain range which I knew was somewhere east of me. I set up my camera on my tripod and waited. Now, I already visualized in my mind what I hoped to capture on that early morning. I was even going to try and create a panorama photograph. The sun began to shine from behind the distant mountains. It was quite a glorious sight. I began to press the shutter on my camera again and again. As the sun slowly rose the light was changing minute by minute. I managed to capture the image that I had pre-visualized and even stitched together a stunning panorama.
