The flag of Germany was passed in its present form in 1919. It was readopted with the new constitution of 1949. It is a light, made of three equal horizontal stripes colored black (above), red, and gold (the substance of this Rocket German Review). There are several theories about the origins of the color scheme of German flag and its meaning. The most popular theory is that the black and gold combination connects to the colors on the mantle of semi-official arm of the Holy Roman Empire. The leaders of the revolution in 1848 adopted the tricolor in the National Assembly or Parliament in Frankfurt.
