You really need a space in your home that is designated only for work. This is a good idea, as you can easily find yourself distracted from the television, radio, kitchen, etc.  Your office is your place to work.  You want as little distractions as possible.  Taking the laptop out to the living room is nice but you can get pretty side-tracked if you’re not locked in your office.  Another good idea is to post your hours on your door so that the rest of the household knows to not disturb you during work time. My internet business is run this way and so can yours.
