Want to be the Apple of your industry? You just need a great idea.
November 8th, 2009 . by adminIdeas are everthing. We all read about innovation in the business press. Innovate or perish. Innovation is the new benchmark of success. But innovation starts with ideas. Steve Jobs and his team have lots of great ideas. So do the folks at Google and Facebook and Twitter and Zappos. You can be an innovator in your industry, too. You just need a great idea. The problem is, most of us don’t pay too much attention to our ideas and how many we generate. Yes, how many. (As Thomas Edison said, “To have a great idea, have a lot of them.”) We just wait until some challenge pops up and try to come up with an idea. Or we have some flash of inspiration. But the real innovators of the world don’t do it that way. The INTENTIONALLY generate ideas, all the time. At Google, they want their people generating new ideas 20% of their time – the famous Google 20% rule. Give it a try. Become an idea generator and see what happens. All it takes is 1 great idea to change everything.
