Lunges vs. Squats: Which is Better for the Legs?

July 16th, 2008 . by admin

The best leg weight lifting routines will include some great exercises.  However, the one exercise that all weight lifting routines must include to provide good results for the legs is lunges.  Why is the exercise so important?  This exercise targets all muscles in the legs:  quads, hamstrings, groin, gluts and calves.  Of course, the squat does the same as the lunges however; its primary targets are different. The squat primarily targets the quads and hamstrings.  Lunges primarily target the gluts, groin and calves.  Combine the two exercises and you have the perfect leg routine.  So make sure that any leg routines you do use include the lunges.
