The Progression of Atopic Dermatitis in Eczema
October 14th, 2009 . by adminAtopic dermatitis is very common in infants and can increase in severity as the child ages. When the infant is very young, the atopic dermatitis may present as a mild rash on the face, scalp, diaper areas, and hands. This rash may not be as uncomfortable, but it is important that you begin treating eczema as soon as it occurs to prevent the progression of the illness. Once the child begins to crawl, the eczema will spread to the neck and abdominal areas and will begin to itch severely. By the time the child is a toddler, the eczema may appear anywhere on the body and will be quite uncomfortable. Fortunately, atopic dermatitis does tend to go away after childhood.
