I could think of no other reason to take turmeric than because I liked the savory taste of it.  Then when my mother started to exhibit some of the early symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease I started to look around for things that might be of assistance to her.  One of the things that I discovered was that one of the health benefits of turmeric could be in the treatment of Alzheimer’s.  The National Institute of Health was conducting clinical trials on it and that was good enough for me.  The medicine that the doctor had her on was leaving her depressed.  Even if it didn’t work,  it would add flavor to her food.
