Dates To Remember
April 30th, 2009 . by adminThe most important dates of the Christian calendar are the days observed during the Easter season. Lent is marked starting 40 days before Easter beginning on Ash Wednesday. Sundays are not included in the count because they are considered to be commemoration of the Resurrection. This is a time for Christians to reflect on their lives, show penance for sins, and appreciation for the sacrifice of Christ. Palm Sunday is celebrated one week before Easter to remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Maundy Thursday is often noted by a reenactment of the Last Supper and a feet washing ceremony. These are extremely important dates to acknowledge if one is to truly understand the history of the Christian faith.
