How Get a Real Estate License in Texas
March 29th, 2009 . by adminObtaining a real estate license in Texas is a fairly straightforward process, and can be done in a reasonable amount of time.
First, you will need to choose a real estate school or learning course and complete 210 classroom hours of courses accepted by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC). You can find their list of approved courses here: http://www.trec.state.tx.us/Education/core.asp
Once you complete your courses, you will need to send documentation of their completion to the TREC. The name of the form you will submit is called the “Evaluation of Education Document Form”. Be sure you have copies of your transcripts and certificates on hand, because you will need to send them along with this form.
After about 10 days, the TREC will let you know whether you meet their educational requirements, and you can then pay the required fees and submit a real estate application, which is called the “Application for Salesperson License”. This step can be completed online at the TREC website.
You can get a copy of the Candidate Information Brochure, or CIB, after your application is accepted. From then on until the day of the exam, you will want to make sure you prepare yourself so that you pass; you can study on your own, or you can take one of the many preparatory courses that are available. After passing the two-part exam, you will be cleared to start selling real estate.
