le Corbusier chair; an example of furniture influenced by modernism
July 5th, 2008 . by adminI am totally fascinated by the design and art of furniture influence by modern artists. A perfect example of this would be my le Corbusier chair. This chair exemplifies the era of an artist who sought to find functional art through simple and yet at times abstract lines. Modern furniture refers to furniture produced from the late 19th century through the present and was influenced by modernism. It was very different from the previous furniture designed before it. Dark or gilded carved wood and heavy patterned fabrics gave way to the simplicity and geometry of polished metal. What’s not to love about it!
