Fake degree certificates are increasingly being sold online. This trend is surprisingly going un noticed and, to a point un challenged by Universites.

It seems that Universities are relying too heavily on the fact that emplyers usually check a prospective candidates credentials, before or shortly after their appointment.

Whilst this may be the case with recent qualificatoins, it is less common with older courses, so, a fake degree certificate made to look like it is quite old may be more effective.

Also Universities are neglecting the wider issue of identity theift. With their documents so easily forged these documents may be used as part of a "portfolio" of bogus documentation.

Considering that relatively low value retail products now use hollograms to protect brands from forgery, it is surprising that Universites still produce documetnts that are so easily copied.
