When Ellis left, Joan was hurt.  When the Josh left, Joan was hurt.  When Kareem left, Joan was hurt.  It seems her luck with men is non-existent.  They love her for about six months and then they high-tail it outta there.  So Joan decided she wanted to get some therapy to “fix” whatever was wrong with her.  The therapist told her that it wasn’t her; it was the type of men Joan picked. Joan had learned to pattern her men after her childhood abuser.  She has learned to forgive herself and has since learned how to get over a breakup without blaming herself.
