Starter kits provide everything you will need to participate in your new-found sport, and are usually much cheaper if you are planning on purchasing the basic equipment anyway. They generally contain a jacket, mask, glove, and practice foil. However, some kits offer additional equipment as well. If you are just getting started, the smaller kit is enough to meet your needs. You can add on with other pieces as you find you need them.
